Worst Asian Ever: Ken Jeong

Ken Jeong (정강조) #WAE
Web  -  Twitter

Ok, maybe he's not THE worst, but I'm not a big fan of Dr. Kendrick Kang-Jo Jeong

I have nothing against Ken personally. I understand how difficult it is for Asian Americans to make it in Hollywood.
Ken Jeong - Transformers 3
What disappoints me is the whiny, annoying, obnoxious, weird characters he always plays & it's because of these roles that he is one of the most successful & prominent Asian American actors of this decade.
Ken Jeong - The Hangover
I know people gotta pay their bills & if Ken didn't play these roles, casting would always find someone else.
Ken Jeong - Pain & Gain
The rationalization is always the same, it's a first step, foot in the door. First we play slave, pimp, mugger, ho & that paves the way for future generations to play the hero, president, cowboy.

TOP 8: Asian TED Talks

Yellowmenace reveals the 8 best Asian TED Talks

A doctor, engineer, computer musician, actor, model, aid worker, internet guru & artist, I gathered the most interesting talks from various fields to entertain & educate.
I love TED Talks. I discovered the site in 2007 & it has been blowing my mind ever since. While this may be a slight detour from my usual posts, I wanted to share some of the interesting Asians who are trying to make a big different in our world.
ZeroN - Jinha Lee and Rehmi Post
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but it wasn't until 2001, when media entrepreneur Chris Anderson took control from founder Richard Saul Wurman that TED started to become the beacon of idea sharing it is today.

VID: Endless Asian Basketball Stream

In honor of the start of the 2014-15 NBA season, here are a trailer load of not so serious, non-professional basketball vids from some of my fav Asian Youtubers.
David So  -  Fung Bros  -  ISAtv
David So - Basketball via Yellowmenace
Street Ballin Basics - Let's begin w/ a funny sketch showing an Asian trash talker taking one step beyond.

What am I supposed to do, talk about the only active Asian player in the NBA, Jeremy Lin? Man, I caught Linsanity when he was in the GSW Warriors Summer League.

There's FOB Asian player coming up, Yuki Togashi who I believe will make into the NBA this season as a replacement for an injured PG.
U heard it here 1st!

Watch the YT Playlist or checkout the rest of the vids below

TV: Nichole Bloom - Shameless Girl

Japanese-Irish American actress Nichole Bloom caught my attention in one of my fav shows, Shameless. I actually had no idea she was Asian, but it's nice to see her in a show about a white trash family in Chicago.

Ball Handles - Especially for Bball fans, this is the rec league player we all know & hate, the dirtiest, weakest baller who thinks he's got pro skillz.
Just do it pt2 -  Accurate characterizations of Koreans, so glad this is in Korean. Here is the difference between racism & comedy, when ur part of a culture U recognize certain stereotypes that exist in reality, when ur an outsider the conclusions ur making aren't based on intimate knowledge of the culture, but thru the filters of media or ur 1 friend of color (who is ur friend bc they're an outcast from their own heritage).

VID: Asians Making Fun of whitey

Jenny Yang: If AZNs said the stuff whitey says
5.5 mil views & counting, 70K likes, 11K comments in less then 2 months. It's safe to say this video has gone Viral w/ a capital Oh My Buddha!

If U enjoy 'white whine' (TM) check out the comments section. I fortunately, have become allergic to 'white whine'. It was the result of living in Asia for the past 15 years & hearing the mumbles, moans, & mewls of whitey experiencing discrimination for the first time. I now must avoid whitey at all cost because hearing about FWP (Fapping White Problems) gives me a severe rash & migraines.

YM's Fav YT comment:
"White tears... my favorite drink!"
- Chelsy Thenigrette
& yes, I've experienced most of these multiple times, especially the:
W: But where R U REALLY from?
YM: Canada.
W: Ok, but where was your father born?
YM: Canada ..& my grandfather was born here too.
W: Wow, ur English is really good.

Jenny Yang is a Los Angeles-based writer and stand up comedian who produces the first-ever (mostly) female, Asian American standup comedy tour, Dis/orient/ed Comedy. She is the regular co-host of AngryAsianMan.com Phil Yu's "Angry Asian America" talk show on ISAtv.

Worst AZN EVR! - Stephen Colbert

Worst AZN EVR! - Stephen Colbert

I know this is waaay late, but I had to include Ching Chong Ding Dong on the Worst AZN EVR list.
I've been a Colbertian since '06. He's the only comedy I watch, so I wasn't offended by Ching Chong bc I understood his intent.

That said, I think he may have pushed it too far with the Ching Chong foundation.

Last Ching Chong appearance
Imagine something similar done w/ a black character, making fun of the fact that the stereotype even existed w/ that very character some kind of Uncle Tom. I guess Uncle Ruckus on the Boondocks is this type of character.

It can B done, but it's a very thin & high tightrope to walk, especially without a safety net. Tarantino managed this ever so skillfully w/ Django Unchained, which could have gone horribly wrong.

The CancelColbert movement scared the shit out of him & I don't think we'll see Ching Chong evr again.

1st Ching Chong appearance - Hot tea!

B-BALL: Lin Art

Web   -   FB   -   Youtube

With the first few games of the 2014 NBA Playoffs already played, The Rockets look like they will fall in the first round to the Blazers.

I thought I'd share some of the Jeremy Lin art I've been collecting from around the net before the Rockets season is over.
 Tak Wong - Young Dragon
Behance   -   FB   -   Pinterest

I've read some harshly critical comments re: Lin's performance in the Playoffs, which is all part of the 'Linsanity' backlash, which is subconsciously racist. Secret KKK trolls loaf in their computer chairs waiting for Lin to foul up.
Source? - Pls leave info in comments
In truth the entire Rockets team has been incredibly inconsistent against the Blazers, 2 mistakes for every good play. But Harden & Howard must shoulder the bulk of the blame as they got the big money 2 shine on this very stage, so far there have only been a few glimmers of superstar play.
 Jerry Ma - 3 teams
Web   -   FB   -   Blog

This is my first post about Lin, but I became a fan back when I saw him in Summer League for the Golden State Warriors. My hopes were super high for the first Asian-American to shine in the NBA. He couldn't do it with the Warriors, but we all know what happened in New York.

This world premiere production follows Lee in America as he struggles to prove himself as a fighter, a husband, a father, and a man."
