ARTIST: Mr. Misang 미상씨 (mrmisang.com) via: #YellowMenace.net/blog
Mr. Misang is a Korean illustrator who constantly criticizes the overstimulated, overcrowded, total gluttony of modern urban life by over-stuffing his artworks with signs, symbols, machinery & pop culture references. He creates visual cacophony reflecting the oppressive emotional effects of living in South Korea, which is like a corporate culture pressure cooker because of it's relatively small size & rapid rise to the upper tier of the global market economy. Despite this, JuYong gets hired by numerous magazines & brands to illustrate posters, covers, animations, etc.

In part 3 of my artist profile of Puck aka Tripuck Supawattana, I take a look at some of his best sketches. These are some of his most interesting pieces because they are totally free from any client, customer, publisher or fan expectations. They are snapshots of a creative mind (& talented hand) at play. He posts doodles from his sketchbooks on his Facebook & Instagram accounts.

Primarily a Thai comic book artist, Puck aka Tripuck Supawattana has diversified into several other disciplines, GIFs, art toys, animation, illustrating for apparel & print ads. Because he is a prolific creator I have devoted 3 posts to his art. In this installment, I focus on his personal works which are essentially cynical political cartoons criticizing issues which plague Thailand.

curated by YellowMenace (41+ images)

Jayson CYH is a Taiwanese artist who creates intricate drawings often mixing pop culture with politics. Whether you call his art Neo-expressionism or Pseudo-naïve art, Jayson's creations evoke the rebellious juvenile spirit of drawing a dick in a school textbook. He fills his pieces with a complex mixture of textures & patterns complementing them with unusual color combinations that shouldn't work together, but do. His art expands beyond the page to creating wall murals & sculptures. He's an active member of the Taiwanese creative community, a fan of Asian hip-hop & basketball.

The amazing thing about the Thailand Toy Expo is that there is such a wide range of art toys to see. In this final look back at the expo, I focus on smaller indie toy makers & local Thai talent. Thailand has large & constantly growing community of quality original toy designers.

The Thailand Toy Expo is such a huge event that I had to break my coverage into 3 parts of over 120 photos. I spent a weekend at Central World Bangkok & feel like I didn't get to see all the displays. There are so many toys I had to leave out because I wanted to bring you only the very best. I've added bonus TTE2018 photos on my Tumblr. Scroll down to get your geek on!

Back in the spring, Central World Bangkok hosted The 2018 Thailand Toy Expo. It's a huge 3 day event  with a variety of displays within & just outside of the downtown shopping mall. As usual, I'm ridiculously late to the party, but I thought I'd share some shots of my favorite designer toys anyway.
Better late than never??

Cute cartoon women, lactating breasts & food dominate much of Japanese illustrator Junko Mizuno's art. She is a self-taught artist who began at a young age drawing manga. She struggled on her own developing her style & making small zines into her late twenties when she finally published her first graphic novel, "Pure Trance".
