An international street art vagabond, Caratoes beautifies walls & lives with her elevated artistic style as she trots around the globe. Mashing Surrealism, Cubism & Expressionism in a Feminist food processor, she serves up a signature flavor which unmistakably, Caratoes.
She probably became accustom to standing out at a young age, being a Chinese girl born & raised in a small town in Belgium. After graduating university with a degree in game design, she moved to Amsterdam & worked as a 3D artist. It was in Amsterdam that the walls first started calling to her, so she began experimenting with graffiti which eventually led her to Hong Kong to rediscover her roots, moving from standing out to outstanding! Now she is in high demand, designing a Levi's flagship store in Wuhan, China & doing a massive wall in the middle of Wynwood, Miami for Super Chief Gallery. Years of nonstop global grinding is baring sweet fruit as her orchard of artistic delights continues to blossom & expand.
"Moved here to understand my roots, which somehow led me to frantically painting murals in the dark alleyways by myself, counting coins to buy a rare spraycan, pushing my dreams & fighting demons. Thank you Hong Kong for giving me such a hard time followed by so much kindness, love, hugs & laughter. In a country where people can be really cold, the gems of humans you find become truly closer than my yellow buttcheeks."
